Adrian's Story

Question: Why would a 23-year-old African American female from Houston, Texas decide to go to India to volunteer as a nurse???

Answer: Jesus.

Huh? : If you’re like most Americans your saying to yourself, “Jesus told you to pack your bags and go to India?”  *Side eye

Ok, ok, ok… I’ll start from the beginning…

I am one of six children: two boys and four girls. My mother wanted us kids to be raised in the church, and sooo… To church we went: Sunday-morning service and afternoon service, Wednesday night bible study, Friday night youth group, and Saturday morning rehearsal (Is that it? NOPE!) My sisters and I were also involved in a dance group that performed at various churches when we weren’t at our home church on the aforementioned days.

Although by the time I went to college I was not a stranger to the Lord’s house, I began to see Jesus in a different way. I knew that God loved the world (John 3:16), but God was teaching me that He came to seek and save the LOST (Luke 19:10). My Christian worldview involved: family, friends, church, and ME. It wasn’t until I was bombarded freshman year at California Baptist University with the idea to serve Christ internationally that my perspective on being a follower of Christ changed.

As I fell more and more in love with Jesus he began to open my eyes to the world that he loves and the people he came for.

I realize that there are approximately 4.9 billion people who do NOT profess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Therefore, I must do what I can, I must spread Christ’s love, I must esteem my brother/sister higher than myself…

I MUST… Teach ALL nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Mathew 28:19)
